How To Add Windshield Wiper Fluid
A clear view of the road can make the difference between safe and hazardous driving, so it’s critical to make sure you have enough windshield wiper fluid before you find yourself needing it.
Windshield wiper fluid is among the easiest and least expensive fluids to replace, so it’s never a bad idea to keep extra on hand, especially in winter months.
Precautions
- Do not put engine coolant or any other fluid in the wiper fluid reservoir. These can damage your wiper system
- Do not use plain water in the wiper fluid reservoir – it can freeze, clogging and damaging the reservoir and hoses
Adding the wiper fluid
- Locate your fluid reservoir. If your vehicle has a rear wiper, there may be a second reservoir for it
- Remove the cap(s) and check to see if the reservoir is full
- If it is not full, add windshield wiper fluid – in extremely cold weather, do not fill the reservoir all the way
- Replace the cap securely
